Frequently Asked Questions

I just see March. Where are the rest of the months?

Writing 366 books (including February 29) takes time, and we all have to start someplace. For me, the first month I could get done in time after I came up with the idea was March. The next month I’ll get done is either August or September, and new months should follow every three to four months. The whole project will take between three and four years to complete.

If you can’t wait for your special day, hope is not lost! If I know that someone specifically wants a particular date, I’m happy to move it to the top of the queue. If you can give me six weeks’ head start, I should be able to have your date written, designed, published, and available well in time.

Why isn’t a particular birthday, obituary, or event mentioned in your book?

  1. It might not have happened on that day. We try to check every date against at least one additional source. If we can’t confirm it, we don’t use it.

  2. We can’t list everybody. There are lots of events and people for every day, enough to make each book at least twice as long. However, if we’re missing someone or something you think is important, please email us. In general, we try to err on the side of inclusion, and we’ll give serious consideration to every suggestion.

Why did you choose that cover?

Almost all the photography and illustration in The Story of a Special Day comes from Wikimedia Commons, an invaluable depository of images that are either in the public domain or available under a Creative Commons license. A very few images are used under “fair use” provisions to illustrate important events or people, but always as interior illustrations.

As a result, it’s not always possible to have the cover match the Event of the Day, and occasionally when there are two or more good choices for Event of the Day, we pick the one with the best available art. For cover illustrations in particular, the image we use has to be high resolution, and not every image in Wikimedia Commons is available in the needed quality.

You’l find art credits in every volume of The Story of a Special Day, and they’re more interesting than you might think, packed with additional trivia, credits, and (in the case of paintings) locations of the original.

When will my special day be available?

Writing 366 books (yes, we plan a February 29 volume) takes a lot of time, and it’s going to take us between three and four years to get every volume uploaded and ready to sell. But which books we write next depends on you!

Normally, we pick a month, start with Day 1, and work from there. But if you’ve got a Special Day in mind, click the link below or email us at editor@timespinnerpress.com, and we’ll do our best to move your Special Day to the front of the line. If you let us know at least six weeks before the day, we should be able to have your book ready in time to give as a gift.

I found a mistake!

If you find a mistake or a format error, please let us know. One great virtue of ebooks and print-on-demand publishing is that we can upload a new file and fix the problem quickly and easily. If you’ve purchased an ebook, we can arrange for you to get a new copy — unfortunately, we can’t do the same with print. Email us at editor@timespinnerpress.com, or click the link below.
